Toronto Restaurant Review

Thuet Bistro & Bakery
609 King Street West

Formerly the executive chef and co-owner of Toronto’s Centro Grill and Wine Bar, Marc Thuet now oversees Bistro & Bakery Thuet, a fine dining restaurant located on King West serving French cuisine with a strong Canadian influence.

Born in Alsace, France with formal training at the Lycee Hotelier in Strasbourg, Marc considers himself a uniquely Canadian chef in that he continually works to break traditional barriers by using the finest Canadian products in new contexts.

On a recent visit to Thuet’s, RGT was pleasantly surprised to run into the man himself, Marc Thuet, during a busy Friday night dinner rush; A testament to the dedication Marc has to his new restaurant, he spent at least an hour at the front door personally greeting his patrons.

As for the meal itself…it was fantastic. The foie gras, both the pan seared and terrine variety, were perfect. For main dishes we had the Alberta beef, the Confit of wild British Colombia salmon as well as the lamb provencal, all cooked to perfection.

The one remarkable note in our dining experience was the service we received from the wait staff; We so often receive user feedback here at RGT which follows the theme “Food was great, service was terrible”. We are pleased to report that the service at Thuet’s was great; no pressure to turn over your seat, helpful suggestions and rapid response even during a dinner service.

Overall: If you have the chance, check it out, it’s worth every penny.
