Toronto Restaurant Review

Jaipur Grille
2066 Yonge St.
Toronto, ON
M4S 2A3

Since its opening several years ago Jaipur Grille has been touted as one of the premier Indian restaurants in the city. Having visited all but a few of these premier restaurants we say with certainty the Jaipur Grille doesn't make the top 5.

The atmosphere is fair, and the service is fine; it's the food that misses the mark. Having given the establishment three chances to change our opinion, the Grille simply doesn't meet the expectations of the high quality of food expected from a top notch Indian restaurant.

To ensure an apples to apples comparison we tried each of our favorites; the channa masala was flavourless, while thepaneer methi tikka was even more underwhelming as the paneer was dry and tough to chew. The lamb Vindaloo was disconcertingly odd in its flavour; tasting unlike anything we've ever had before, While one could argue that all the other restaurants are off in their flavouring - we find this a little tough to swallow.

The one saving grace in the meal was the daal makhani, a unique item in itself and a childhood favorite of several of our tasters, this dish is what kept us coming back.

Overall: Pleasant ambience. Underwhelming food.
